Job Description
Duke-NUS Medical School (Duke-NUS), Singapore’s only graduate-entry medical school, was established as a landmark collaboration between two world-ranking institutions of higher education – Duke University and National University of Singapore. Duke-NUS provides innovative education and impactful research to enhance the practice of medicine in Singapore and beyond. The School also has strong research ties with Singapore Health Services (SingHealth), one of Singapore’s major healthcare providers, other major research institutions in Singapore, and with Duke University.
Duke-NUS seeks highly qualified candidates in genomics medicine, computational biology and medicine for a tenure-track faculty appointment in the Centre for Computational Biology (CCB) (see www.duke-nus.edu.sg/ccb), jointly appointed with one of Duke-NUS’ five Signature Research Programmes (SRPs) of Cancer & Stem Cell Biology, Cardiovascular & Metabolic Disorders, Emerging Infectious Diseases, Health Services & Systems Research, and Neuroscience & Behavioral Disorders.
The recruitment package will include an attractive salary, generous start-up research funding as well as laboratory space. The successful candidate is expected to establish a collaborative and productive research team and secure internationally competitive grants to sustain his/her research in the long term.
Job Requirements
- Ph.D. or equivalent with a strong background and proven track record in genomics medicine, computational biology and medicine, and/or in related areas such as quantitative biology, computational genomics, applied computational statistics, machine learning and AI, and big-data science.
- Able to develop and/or employ computational tools to tackle fundamental questions in biomedical research with a well-defined and demonstrated application to human disease at a basic, translational, or clinical level.
- Possess an exceptional international research profile in relation to career stage, and be committed in employing cutting-edge computational and/or systems biology approaches to study human disease.
- Demonstrated expertise in combining both computational and experimental work is advantageous as well as an interest in cross-disciplinary collaborations and ambitions that will build on Duke-NUS’ core strengths in molecular, cellular and biomedical science.
- Proven track record in obtaining competitive research funding and publications in high impact scientific journals.
- Prior experience in translating research towards pre-clinical or commercial applications is desirable but not essential.
- Able to mentor students in the Duke-NUS PhD programmes in Integrated Biology and Medicine (IBM) and Quantitative Biology and Medicine.
