Scope of Position
Duke-NUS Medical School invites applications for a full-time Education Associate/Senior Education Associate in 3D Printing within the Office of Education. This innovative role will leverage 3D printing and 3D modelling technologies to support educational delivery, assessment, and learning experiences, while also contributing to research and innovation. Working in close partnership with our faculty, students, clinical collaborators and researchers, the successful applicant will lead initiatives to develop and integrate 3D printing and 3D modelling across our MD curriculum, as well as the wider SingHealth Duke-NUS Academic Medical Centre (AMC). This is a dynamic, cross-functional role that bridges technology, education, and healthcare. The successful applicant will be eligible for appointment at the Education Associate/Senior Education Associate level at Duke-NUS; rank will be commensurate with experience, achievement and recognition.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
•Manage the day-to-day operations of the 3D Printing and Prototyping Laboratory (3DPP), including equipment, inventory, safety protocols and standard operating procedures
•Facilitate and oversee the use of the 3DPP as an innovation makerspace for students, faculty and researchers
•Support faculty and researchers in incorporating 3D printing and 3D modelling into medical education curricula, simulation training, research and innovation projects
•Design, prototype, and produce anatomical models, task trainers and other customised objects for educational, research and innovation use
•Provide hands-on training and technical guidance to students, faculty, and staff on 3D modelling software and 3D printing hardware
•Organise and facilitate workshops, demonstrations, and outreach activities to raise awareness and build capacity in 3D printing and 3D modelling technologies.
•Actively promote the adoption of 3D printing and 3D modelling technologies across the SingHealth Duke-NUS Academic Medical Centre
•Engage and collaborate with healthcare professionals, doctors, residents, and clinical departments to identify and develop applied use cases for education, research and innovation
•Assist in the preparation of research publications, grant applications, and reports related to 3D printing and 3D modelling initiatives
•Serve as a subject matter expert and point of contact for 3D printing and 3D modelling related enquiries across the AMC
•Supervise, mentor, and manage student interns assigned to 3DPP and project-based work
•Participate in Office of Education activities as relevant and as determined by their Reporting Officer
•Develop strong working relationships with collaborators both within Duke-NUS and the wider SingHealth Duke-NUS Academic Medical Centre
•Appropriate duties as assigned by reporting officer
Qualifications
Education:
•Education Associate – Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or closely related field
•Senior Education Associate – Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or closely related field
Technical Expertise:
•Demonstrated expertise in 3D Printing, including FDM, SLA, SLS, SLM and Polyjet technologies
•Experience in single and multi-material 3D Printing in healthcare and/or medical education
•Demonstrated prototyping expertise, including silicone casting, mechatronic design, development and testing
•Familiarity with safety protocols and standard operating procedures
•Experience in 3D modelling tools (e.g. SolidWorks, Blender, 3Ds Max, Fusion 360, etc) and medical image segmentation software (e.g. Materialise Mimics, 3D Slicer, etc)
Experience:
•Minimum 2–3 years of hands-on experience in 3D printing, additive manufacturing, or a closely related field
•Experience working in an academic, medical, or research / innovation environment is preferred
•Prior experience supervising or mentoring junior staff or interns is an advantage
•Experience with human-centred design / design thinking approaches

•Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills with ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences
•Ability to support students and faculty in scholarship and innovation within the domain of 3D printing and 3D modelling
