Job Description

Responsible for administering the faculty appointment, promotion and tenure process, managing the philanthropic and internal research grant funding awarded to faculty of Duke-NUS Medical School, and providing secretariat support to various School-level committees. The job scope of the selected candidate will include the following:

  • Provide secretariat support to the Faculty Appointment, Promotion and Tenure Committee, the Distinguished and Emeritus Professors Selection Committee, and the Search Committees for recruitment of leadership positions for Office of Research.
  • Serve as point of contact for matters relating to faculty appointment, promotion and tenure guidelines and processes, as well as those relating to principal research scientist appointment and promotion.
  • Manage the full spectrum of pre- and post-award administration of research grants funded by philanthropic foundations and the School’s internal funding.
  • Plan and coordinate the international Review Panel meetings for the various Signature Research Programmes, and provide secretariat support to the panels.
  • Prepare meeting papers, reports and presentation materials for senior management, and take minutes of meetings.
  • Work with IT colleagues to develop, customize and / or enhance the online faculty database and system.
  • Perform other duties incidental to the work described therein or as assigned by the Director.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Biomedical Sciences or other related disciplines. Candidates with degrees in other fields of discipline but who have worked in a biomedical science or healthcare industry will also be considered.
  • Minimum 6 to 8 years of relevant work experience with at least 2 years in a managerial-related role.
  • Prior work experience in a research or academic environment would be advantageous.
  • Possess strong organisational, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Mature, independent, self-driven and  detail-oriented, with good public relations and strong administrative skills.
  • Able to lead a team and multi-task in a fast-paced working environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, especially Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
