Manager (Development Value Proposition and Fundraising)

Job Description

The candidate will drive strategies for the Value Proposition and Fundraising key pillars. The candidate is expected to build strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders for these functions.

Value Proposition

  • Proactively engage stakeholders from Education, Research and other departments to identify and scope out causes to pitch for philanthropic funding.
  • Draft and prepare the case-for-support for gift ideas to deliver impactful messaging about the School’s value proposition and its funding priorities to prospective donors.
  • Work closely with Head of Development, stewardship and fundraising to understand industry needs and donors’ requirements to align the School’s academic and research causes with donors’ philanthropic interests.
  • Research to identify and drive potential new donor markets / segments based on the School’s value proposition pillars and unique strengths.
  • Build a strong partnership with the NUS Development Office to coordinate conversations on gift ideas and opportunities to facilitate gift enquiries.

 

Fundraising

  • Proactively identify, qualify and cultivate new prospects to acquire new gifts to broaden the donor base
  • Support Volunteers, Connectors, Senior Leadership and Faculty to cultivate prospects to build the pipeline of gift cases
  • Research, draft and prepare bespoke proposals, presentations and appeal letters for gift solicitation.
  • Engage donors through face-to-face meetings and other platforms
  • Prepare documents for gift acceptance
  • Prepare reports on prospect cultivation, pipeline of gifts and donor engagement activities
  • Support the Head of Development to draft and prepare papers, presentation decks, management reports and other documents as needed.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Head of Development.

Job Requirements

  • Degree in any discipline.
  • Minimum At least 7 to 8 years’ experience in corporate and / or marketing communications, or fundraising
  • Excellent conceptualisation, writing and editing skills.
  • Strong communicator and interpersonal ability.
  • Highly organised and values attention to detail.
  • Service-oriented and experienced in aligning project needs with stakeholder interests.
  • Team-oriented with a positive ‘can-do’ attitude.
  • The candidate is a highly driven, responsible and independent individual, who is able to take initiative and work on competing tasks concurrently.
  • Passionate about philanthropy for higher education, and creating meaningful impact for the wider community.
  • Values discretion in preparing and handling confidential and sensitive information.
  • Experience in client servicing, branding and event management will be advantageous
