Job Description

Duke-NUS Medical School (Duke-NUS) is a landmark collaboration between two world-leading institutions of higher education and research – Duke University and National University of Singapore. As a graduate-entry medical school (home to circa 500 students from 42 countries and 3,600 full-time and adjunct faculty and staff), Duke-NUS attracts the brightest minds from a range of backgrounds, who bring with them significant academic and life experiences. Along with innovative educational programmes, Duke-NUS is a research powerhouse whose distinguished scientists are transforming the way we understand, diagnose and treat diseases. Duke-NUS benefits greatly from its strategic partnership with Singapore Health Services (SingHealth), which includes the National Cancer Centre of Singapore (NCCS).

The faculties of the Signature Research Programme in Cancer and Stem Cell Biology (CSCB) at Duke-NUS focus on elucidating fundamental mechanisms of cancer, translating basic science discoveries from bench to bedside through active drug discovery initiatives and innovative clinical trials, with a mission to conduct world-class research and training in cancer and stem cell biology. As a member institute of SingHealth, NCCS is a global leading cancer centre, with a mission to offer patients hope of a cancer-free tomorrow, by having the best people, providing the best care, doing the best research and leading cancer education.

Through a strategic partnership between Duke-NUS and SingHealth, we are seeking an individual with exceptional scientific credentials and leadership skills to be the Director of the CSCB Programme as well as the Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Research) at NCCS. In addition to being an international leader in cancer and stem cell biology, the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate their ability of growing, leading and mentoring faculty as well as developing and operationalising strategy. Importantly, the next Director will have an outstanding track record relevant to the challenge of navigating and shaping the strategic direction and coordination for cancer research across the SingHealth and Duke-NUS Academic Medical Centre and across the basic, translational and clinic research areas present in the partnership.
