Job Description
The Programme in Cardiovascular and Metabolic Disorders (CVMD) is one of the Signature Research Programmes at Duke-NUS Medical School. Our overarching aim is to define the molecular mechanisms underlying human health and disease, and to discover new approaches to prevent, diagnose and treat cardiometabolic illnesses.
The selected candidate will join a dynamic, multidisciplinary team working on clinically relevant projects in cardiovascular and metabolic diseases in the laboraotry of Prof David Silver. Prior experience in cardiovascular research is not required — candidates who have gained research experience in other disciplines are encouraged to apply. Key Responsibilities
The Research Assistant will perform a variety of research activities under the supervision of the Principal Investigator, including:
- Perform and support all aspects of assigned research projects.
- Animal handling (mouse) and related in vivo experiments.
- Genotyping of mouse lines, tissue collection, and mammalian cell culture.
- Execute molecular biology techniques including immunoblotting, DNA and RNA isolation, DNA cloning, and generation of CRISPR-mediated knockout cells.
- Contribute to project management, data analysis, and preparation of research publications.
- Perform other related duties incidental to the scope of work described herein.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Sciences, Life Sciences, or a related discipline.
- Prior hands-on laboratory experience, including basic molecular biology methods and mammalian cell culture.
- Experience in mouse handling and in vivo experimentation is essential.
- A motivated self-starter who is open-minded, energetic, and highly collaborative.
- Ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team and diverse research environment.
