Job Description

Dr. Sun Lei is looking for a highly organized, motivated and hardworking individual, who can assist a number of projects in a highly competitive area of basic and translational research to join his laboratory within the Cardiovascular and Metabolic Disorders (CVMD) Programme. His research laboratory focuses on regulatory network on metabolism diseases such as obesity and diabetes. His studies reveal a sophisticated RNA-regulatory network governing the development and function of major metabolic organs such as adipose and liver at various physiological and pathological conditions. His research topics encompass the regulation and function of non-coding RNAs such as microRNAs and lncRNAs, RNA processing such as splicing and editing, and RNA binding proteins. 


The successful applicant will work under the supervision of the Principal Investigator and/or selected Research Fellow to conduct experiments under their guidance. The Research Assistant’s roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform tasks and support all aspects of the research project.
  • Conduct research work including mouse breeding, genotyping, and metabolic phenotyping. 
  • Perform cell culture, molecular cloning, Western blot, real-time PCR and RNA extraction.
  • Assist with general upkeep of laboratory needs, maintain safety protocols, provide technical support and establish work procedures to ongoing research projects.
  • Contribute to laboratory management and responsible for the procurement of laboratory supplies.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein or assigned by the supervisor.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in Sciences/Life Sciences. 
  • Prior experiences in laboratory management procedures preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge, skills and expertise in supporting various research activities including molecular biology, animal work, or cell culture. 
  • A strong team player who is able to prioritise, multi-task and work collaboratively in a diverse workforce.
