Job Description

The laboratory of Dr. Tang Hong-Wen within the Signature Research Programme in Cancer and Stem Cell Biology (CSCB) at Duke-NUS is recruiting a Research Assistant with strong enthusiasm and interest in muscles and muscle stem cells. The Tang lab’s scientific focus is to understand how muscle functions get impaired during aging and tumorigenesis.  Dr Tang’s laboratory uses unique cross-species and interdisciplinary approach incorporating Drosophila genetics, biochemistry, cell biology, and mouse models, to identify new evolutionary conserved mechanisms underlying human muscle diseases and provide new therapeutic strategies targeting muscle wasting and mitigating the effects of aging.


The selected candidate will perform a variety of functions related to research under the supervision of the Principal Investigator or his/her designate: - 

  • Perform tasks and support all aspects of the research project.
  • Conduct accurate monitoring, documenting and reporting of experimental results and research findings.
  • Evaluate and interpret collected data and prepare oral presentations or written reports/ scientific manuscripts/literature for publication and analyses setting forth progress, adverse trends and appropriate recommendations or conclusions.
  • Contribute to some project management, provision of guidance to undergraduate/medical   students.
  • Assist with general upkeep of laboratory needs, maintain safety protocols, provide technical support and establish work procedures to ongoing research projects.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Sciences / Life Sciences.
  • Demonstrated basic knowledge, skills and expertise in supporting various research activities.
  • Knowledge of the scientific background relevant to the research area.
  • Laboratory experimental skills.
  • A strong team player who is open-minded, energetic, highly motivated and can work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team and diverse workforce.
