Job Description
The Emerging Infectious Diseases (EID) Programme aims to pioneer the development and discovery of new and more effective methods for the treatment, prevention and control of new and emerging pathogens. The key outcome of the research will be the early identification of new pathogens, out of which new diagnostic tests, treatments and control strategies will be developed.
The laboratory of Immunotherapy in HBV Infection within the EID Programme is focused on the study of immune response of Hepatitis B and the liver microenvironment. The laboratory is also at the forefront in developing T-cell receptor (TCR) cell therapy against hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Recently, the laboratory is actively involved in studying the immune responses in SARS-CoV1, SARS-CoV2 and other emerging viral diseases.
A Research Assistant / Laboratory Technician position is available and the successful candidate will be closely involved in the collaboration project work between hospitals/industries and the laboratory. The duties and responsibilities include the following: -
- Perform tasks and support the team in scientific projects.
- Plan and perform assays such as Elispot, cell staining and flow cytometry.
- Conduct accurate monitoring, documenting and reporting of experimental results and/or research findings.
- Process and store clinical samples, and keep good inventory of samples required for the projects.
- Perform other duties required to support the organization of the laboratory, including but not limited to purchasing, stock-taking, inventory and compliance with safety and ethical regulations.
Job Requirements
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Life Sciences, Biological Sciences or equivalent.
- Prior experience in a T cell laboratory or immunology laboratory or/and have using human samples, including handling and processing of clinical samples such as blood and tissue would be advantageous.
- Possess good tissue culture techniques and familiarity with cell isolation techniques would be advantageous.
- A team player who is able to prioritise, multi-task and work collaboratively in a diverse workforce.
