Job Description

The Signature Research Programme in Emerging Infectious Diseases (EID) aims to pioneer the development and discovery of new and more effective methods for the treatment, prevention and control of new and emerging pathogens. The key outcome of the research will be the early identification of new pathogens, out of which new diagnostic tests, treatments and control strategies will be developed.

 
The successful candidate will perform a variety of research activities which include planning, organising and conducting research studies within the overall scope of a research project under the supervision of the Principal Investigator or his/her designate, including but not limited to the following: -
 

  • Perform cell culture and cell differentiation.  
  • Able to comply with standard work instructions and procedures, and write new operating procedures.
  • Perform molecular and cell biology assays, including PCR, RT-PCR, Western Blotting, immunofluorescence and histology.
  • Perform experiments with live laboratory mice, including virus infection and drug administration, and monitor mice during and after infection/treatment.
  • Assist researchers in programming, data analysis and literature review in various research projects.
  • Assist with general upkeep of laboratory needs, maintain safety protocols, provide technical support and establish work procedures to ongoing research projects.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described therein.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Sciences or related degrees with computer proficiency. 
  • Possess competence in performing molecular and cell biology assays.
  • Able to undertake independent research progressively. 
  • Comprehensive training will be provided in specific areas if required.
  • A strong team player who is open-minded, energetic, highly motivated and can work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team and diverse workforce.
