Job Description

The Signature Research Programme in Emerging Infectious Diseases (EID) aims to pioneer the development and discovery of new and more effective methods for the treatment, prevention and control of new and emerging pathogens. The key outcome of the research will be the early identification of new pathogens, out of which new diagnostic tests, treatments and control strategies will be developed.
 

The successful candidate will perform a variety of research activities which include planning, organising and conducting research studies within the overall scope of a research project under the supervision of the Principal Investigator or his/her designate, including but not limited to the following: -
 

  • Perform tasks and support all aspects of the research project. The standard and quality of testing is in accordance with ISO-15189 guidelines.
  • Conduct accurate monitoring, documenting for ISO accreditation, and reporting of experimental results and/or research findings.
  • Assist in development, optimisation and validation of assays needed by Viral Research and Experimental Medicine Centre (“ViREMiCS”).
  • Assist in sample receipt/collection, inventory management, and analyse clinical samples from clinical trials supported by ViREMiCS.
  • Assist in laboratory administrative duties, including but not limited to procurement of laboratory consumables, equipment maintenance, establish risk assessments and laboratory safety standard operating procedures.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described therein.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Sciences / Life Sciences.
  • Demonstrated basic competencies, skills and expertise in laboratory research skills.
  • Possess knowledge of molecular and cellular biology.
  • Able to effectively multi-task and work on different projects concurrently.
  • A strong team player who is highly motivated, detail-oriented and can work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team and diverse workforce.
