Job Description

The Signature Research Programme in Emerging Infectious Diseases (EID) aims to pioneer the development and discovery of new and more effective methods for the treatment, prevention and control of new and emerging pathogens. The key outcome of the research will be the early identification of new pathogens, out of which new diagnostic tests, treatments and control strategies will be developed. 
 

The Laboratory of Experimental Therapeutics at EID, Duke-NUS Medical School focuses on exploratory drug discovery against flaviviruses (eg. dengue virus, zika virus and related members), with the mission to facilitate antiviral discovery approaches for the prevention and treatment of flavivirus-associated diseases, has two open positions for Research Assistants. 


The selected candidate will be part of a multi-disciplinary team of virologists/molecular biologists performing experiments using classical virology, molecular virology, biochemistry/structural studies as well as in vivo animal and organoid infection systems.  
 

  • Perform experiments to support all aspects of the research mission of the laboratory.  
  • Conduct accurate monitoring, documenting and reporting of experimental results and/or research findings.
  • Perform data analysis and literature review in various research projects. 
  • Contribute to project management, presentations and publications of research work.
  • Assist with general upkeep of laboratory needs, maintain safety protocols, provide technical support and establish work procedures to ongoing research projects.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described therein.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Life Sciences or Biochemistry with interest and aptitude for research.  
  • Minimum 1 to 2 years of relevant experience. Entry level candidates may also be considered. 
  • Possess strong interpersonal communication skills with written, oral communication and computer skills. 
  • A strong team player who is open-minded, energetic, highly motivated and can work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team and diverse workforce.
