Job Description

The Signature Research Programme in Neuroscience and Behavioural Disorders (NBD) is focused on understanding the structure and function of the nervous system, and the neural mechanisms underlying human neurological, psychiatric and ophthalmological disorders.
 
The Zhang Lab at Duke-NUS Medical School (https://www.duke-nus.edu.sg/content/zhang-su-chun) is seeking a motivated and skilled Research Assistant. The successful candidate will work on innovative projects focused on studying the mechanisms underlying neural disorders such as Parkinson’s disease and premature disease using mouse models. The duties will include but not limited to the following:
 

  • Perform behavioural tests on mouse models of neural diseases
  • Conduct surgical procedures on mouse brains to study functions of neural circuits 
  • Maintain multiple colonies of transgenic mouse lines
  • Analyse and report data in a regular agenda
  • Conduct accurate monitoring, documenting and reporting of experimental results and/or research findings.             
  • Maintain laboratory safety protocols, order/prepare common reagents and maintain laboratory inventory
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described therein.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences or related fields with a keen interest in neuroscience.
  • A self-motivated individual who is willing to learn and work independently, prioritise, multi-task and work collaboratively in a research environment of diverse workforce.
  • Priority will be given to candidate who is planning to pursue PhD/MD programme.
