Job Description

Chronic unresolved inflammation is a key pathogenic feature of prevalent inflammatory disorders and related syndromes that together are predicted to affect close to 60 million people with an annual cost of $90B. As such, the global anti-inflammatory therapeutic market is in urgent need for new targets for therapeutic intervention.


The Ho lab at Duke-NUS is building a platform to mine the human genome for novel determinants of the inflammatory response. We are seeking an experienced researcher who will participate and drive the execution of this platform in collaboration with other senior members of the team. The selected candidate will be expected to work at the bench as well as manage some aspects of the project such as administration of documentation required for smooth operations. Successful completion of the project will lead to opportunities for transition to industry roles. Candidates with strong technical ability and expertise in inflammation biology, and who are interested in taking discoveries from the lab through to commercialization are strongly encouraged to apply.

  • Perform tasks and support all aspects of the research project.
  • Cell culture and basic molecular biology (western blotting, PCR).
  • Preparation of samples for NGS and proteomics analyses.
  • Liaise with stakeholders including investors and grantors through regular meetings.
  • Responsible for procurement related to the project such as vendor management, purchasing of laboratory supplies.
  • Regulatory paperwork pertaining to the project (IRBs).
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described therein.

Job Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Biology or related discipline. Candidates with PhD will be considered for Research Fellow appointment.
  • At least 5 years of work experience in lab-based research.
  • Track record of scientific output in inflammation biology (research publications).
  • Demonstrated experience in molecular biology and cell culture.
  • Experienced in project management and stakeholder management, and able to undertake independent research progressively.
