Job Description
The SingHealth Duke-NUS Global Health Institute (SDGHI) is an enabling platform for global health activities across the SingHealth Duke-NUS Academic Medical Centre. The Institute aims to address current and emerging health challenges across ASEAN member states and in other Asian countries. Working in collaboration with partners, the Institute seeks to tackle prevalent health challenges, strengthen health systems and better insulate countries from pandemics and disease threats.
We are recruiting a Research Associate to support the efforts of its Global Health Programme Evaluation Unit. The successful candidate will primarily support the evaluation of programmes organised by SDGHI and SingHealth’s International Collaboration Office, working with local and regional stakeholders to advise and contribute to the development of evaluation plans for these programmes.
You will synthesise analysis of the regional healthcare landscape and published literature to inform stakeholders in the planning and delivery of global health programmes Your work will also include conducting programme evaluation and performing relevant analyses required for evaluation and presenting findings to the stakeholders. You will contribute to the preparation of funding proposals, reports, and scientific manuscripts.
As part of your role, you will offer technical guidance and support to department staff on analytics and programme evaluation. You will also support the development of in-house training workshops for staff.
Your broad responsibilities in supporting the evaluation of projects to improve population health may include: -
- Ensure the success of evaluation of projects, in conjunction/consultation with key stakeholders.
- Assist in monitoring and evaluating project performance against set targets, and propose action plans to improve organisation results, if necessary.
- Support and conduct data collection activities, defining new data collection and analysis processes, conducting statistical analysis to identify potential areas of improvement, and tracking execution of project initiatives.
- Propose study protocol and data evaluation strategies, as well as perform detailed analysis and identify and communicate data-driven trends, patterns and insights to guide project stakeholders in their decision-making.
- Assist and support project leads in the identification of potential journals or research publications and the scoping and drafting of the abstract in accordance with the required specifications, including seeking expert opinions and guidance from various SingHealth entities / departments.
- Design new initiatives that are data-driven to improve population outcome.
- Support SDGHI in evidence-based strategy formulation, execution of strategic plans and communication of projects to stakeholders.
- Drive / support the department’s planning processes and ensure an effective planning framework which addresses the organisation’s priorities.
- Support with secretariat functions to SDGHI, senior management, and any other assigned meetings or events.
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Public Health, Applied Research, Clinical Research or MD / MBBS with at least 2 years of relevant work experience in conducting health systems / global health research.
- Competent in Microsoft Applications and analysis software (e.g. SPSS, Stata, NVivo, Atlas ti, Tableau)
- Familiarity with the concepts of Implementation Research, Evaluation Typology (Process Evaluation, Impact Evaluation, etc.), and Health Policy and Systems Research
- Prior experience in conducting programme evaluation would be advantageous.
- Possess good verbal and written communication skills.Have excellent interpersonal skills and able to work with and manage multiple stakeholders in cross-
- cultural settings.
- Shows initiative and capable of working both independently and in a team.
- Maintain a continuous improvement mindset to seek out opportunities for enhancements to quality, productivity and/or patient safety and care.
