Job Description

The SingHealth Duke-NUS Global Health Institute (SDGHI) is an enabling platform for global health activities across the SingHealth Duke-NUS Academic Medical Centre (AMC). The Institute aims to address current and emerging health challenges across ASEAN member states and in other Asian countries. Working in collaboration with partners, SDGHI seeks to tackle prevalent health challenges, strengthen health systems and better insulate countries from pandemics and disease threats.

 

The Clinical Core is one of the five core areas of focus within SDGHI. The Clinical Core’s work in health systems strengthening focuses on two major programmes, and works in close collaboration with SingHealth International Collaboration Office:
1.    Asia Health Systems Atlas is a comprehensive knowledge system shaped through in-depth regional needs and gaps analysis, research on global trends and policies, and reviews of prior global health systems projects.

2.    Global Health Systems Programme consolidates the SingHealth Duke-NUS Academic Medical Centre’s strengths and expertise and aligning these with insights on regional needs derived from the Asia Health Systems Atlas to develop health systems improvement projects with in-country partners to advance health systems across Asia.

 

The position of Research Associate at the SDGHI Clinical Core will report to the SDGHI Clinical Core Leads with the primary role of supporting the two programmes.

 

The key responsibilities for the Research Associate will include but not limited to:

  • Actively contribute to the development and execution of the Global Health Systems Programme and the Asia Health Systems Atlas, including health systems analysis and policy evaluation.
  • Implement advanced data tools for efficient management, analysis, and visualization of health systems data, ensuring accuracy and security.
  • Assist in programme and project management, coordinating effectively among diverse stakeholders within the SingHealth Duke-NUS Academic Medical Centre and external partners to achieve project goals.
  • Support the development and enhancement of strategic partnerships within the Asian health systems network, including collaborations with multilateral platforms like ASEAN and the WHO.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of ethical practice guidelines and contribute to ethical training programs and workshops within the Clinical Core.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Public Health, Global Health or other related disciplines, with a focus on clinical health systems.
  • Minimum 2 years of professional experience in health systems and services research, demonstrating knowledge of health systems, clinical practices, and health system challenges.
  • Proficient in both qualitative and quantitative research methods, with a technical understanding of health policy, healthcare delivery models, and issues pertinent to global health.
  • Possess strong project management and coordination skills, capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously and contributing to capacity building and training initiatives within clinical health settings.
  • Prior international experience, particularly in Asia, with a preference for experience in Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs), is highly beneficial.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a strong team player, capable of working flexibly and independently in a multidisciplinary team, with a commitment to cultural sensitivity and a decolonizing mindset in global health.
  • Comfortable working with high-profile stakeholders from government, healthcare industry, academic institutions, NGOs, and multilateral organizations at local, regional, and international levels, maintaining professionalism in all interactions.
  • Have excellent writing, critical thinking, communication, and presentation skills, with an ability to convey complex clinical health concepts clearly and effectively.
