Job Description

 

The Signature Research Programme in Health Services and Systems Research (HSSR) in Duke-NUS is a centre of academic excellence for research and education on the organisation, funding and delivery of health services. The programme’s focus is on public health and clinical service innovation in an increasingly complex and connected world.

 

The successful candidate will act as a liaison between study participants and members of the research team and work under the supervision of the Principal Investigator or his/her designate. The responsibilities will include but not limited to:-

 

  • Support the user requirements gathering for research project’s application prototype.
  • Engage stakeholders and user groups in process mapping, design and development in accordance to the Agile Design approach.
  • Develop working Project Web Application using robust frameworks.
  • Be responsible for documentation and user training.
  • Support the development and deployment of implementation studies for the project to key user groups.
  • Perform user acceptance testing for Project Web Application.
  • Draft manuscript and scientific communications for publication in international journals and conferences.
  • Support project manager in the execution of the project.
  • Perform any other tasks assigned by the supervisor to support the success of the project and the department in research and innovation activities.
     

Job Requirements

 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, Public Health, Mathematical Sciences or any other related computational disciplines.
  • Minimum 1 to 2 years of work experience in implementing technical solutions/ applications in a relevant data science space.
  • Familiar with Agile Software Development and Design Thinking.
  • Possess knowledge of major programming/scripting languages (e.g. Python/R, Java, C#, JavaScript, Objective-C, Ruby, etc.) and have strong knowledge in Python.
  • Having certification in Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or ScrumMaster (CSM) will be advantageous.
  • Familiarity with healthcare database management systems (DBMS), analytics and processes, data governance policies and regulation will be advantageous.
  • Prior experience with web technologies (e.g. HTML, CSS, JavaScript, etc.) will be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of systems engineering methodologies (e.g. process mapping, stakeholder engagements, systems thinking, simulation, pragmatic study design, etc.) will be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of interfacing with RESTful APIs, GitHub and GitLab will be advantageous.
  • Evidence in strong logical reasoning, inferential and deductive capabilities will be a definite advantage.
  • Passionate in using technology for public good and dedicated in developing a career in healthcare.
  • Have strong initiative in engaging stakeholders to improve the product design regularly.
  • Willing to learn new technologies when the need arises.
  • Comfortable working in an agile and dynamic environment, and able to work independently and in teams.
