Job Description

Duke-NUS embodies a strategic partnership between Duke University and National University of Singapore (“NUS”). It works closely with the Singapore Health Services (“SingHealth”) cluster which is a network of national specialty disease centres, hospitals, and polyclinics, to advance medicine and improve lives through cutting-edge research and education. Together, Duke-NUS and SingHealth form an Academic Medical Centre that comprises a number of academic collaborations.

 

The Signature Research Programme in Health Services and Systems Research (“HSSR”) at Duke-NUS is a centre of academic excellence for research and education on the organisation, funding, and delivery of health services. The programme’ s focus is on public health and clinical service innovation in an increasingly complex and connected world. The selected candidate will support the health economic evaluations for health interventions under the ADVANcing Clinical Evidence in Infectious Diseases (ADVANCE-ID) programme, which is a network of more than 30 hospitals across Asia collaborating in the conduct of clinical research in infectious diseases to improve the “evidence base” for the optimal prescribing of antibiotics to seriously ill patients with infections associated with antimicrobial resistance. The candidate will also support a variety of research activities under the Impact Assessment Unit, jointly managed between Duke-NUS and SingHealth. Under the supervision of the Principal Investigator or his/her designate, the successful candidate will perform a variety of activities including but not limited to the following:

 

  • Conduct literature reviews to evaluate the potential value of health innovations/interventions.
  • Assist in preparation of reports and presentations to stakeholders.
  • Extract data from existing databases and published literature.
  • Perform data cleaning, handling, and statistical analysis.
  • Perform health economic evaluations such as cost analysis, cost effectiveness analysis, cost utility analysis or budget impact analysis.
  • Manage projects from start to end with guidance (i.e. Develop research objectives and study design, perform data extraction and data collation, conduct data modelling, perform statistical analysis and engage and collaborate with various stakeholders).
  • Draft research abstracts and manuscripts with guidance.
  • Support secretariat and administrative functions pertaining to the health economics team at HSSR.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described therein.

Job Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Public Health or other related field, or MD/MBBS.
  • Minimum 3 years of working experience with quantitative data.
  • Demonstrated good knowledge, skills, and expertise in supporting various research activities.
  • Adept at working with data, including processing raw data to visualise trends and deciphering patterns.
  • Prior experience in various quantitative and qualitative research methods.
  • Experience in conducting health technology assessments will be advantageous.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel VBA or R would be an advantage.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work in a team, with dynamic reporting lines and multiple stakeholders.
  • Able to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Action-oriented, highly motivated and target-focused.
