Job Description
The Centre for Ageing Research and Education (CARE) based in Duke-NUS Medical School is seeking a Research Fellow to support a research project aimed at reducing hospital readmissions among frail older adults. The project is a randomized control trial involving frail older persons discharged from Changi General Hospital (CGH). The goal of the project is to assess whether the implementation of a new health and social care needs assessment tool during care planning reduces hospital readmissions. Home-based surveys and qualitative in-depth interviews with discharged patients will be conducted at three time points; Baseline, 3 months and 9 months, to assess the tool’s effectiveness. The trial will involve up to 500 patients recruited from CGH.
The successful candidate will be required to:
- Manage the research project (timelines, budget, Institutional Review Board application/revisions, reporting to funders)
- Manage research staff assigned to the project
- Supervise data collection
- Interact with different stakeholders involved in the project
- Conduct data analyses
- Lead academic papers and presentations
- Contribute to future grant applications in the area and participate actively in CARE’s activities including seminars and workshops.
- Perform other related duties incidental to the work described therein.
Job Requirements
- PhD in Gerontology, Sociology, Psychology, Epidemiology, Public Health, Economics or other disciplines, with experience in health research.
- Research / clinical training or prior experience in the area of frailty among older adults (such as interventions for frail older persons, community work with frail older persons) will be advantageous. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in managing clinical trials.
- Demonstrated skills and expertise in quantitative analysis.
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A team player with strong organisational and interpersonal skills
