Job Description

Professor Karl Tryggvason’s laboratory within the Cardiovascular and Metabolic Disorders (CVMD) Programme is searching for a highly motivated Research Fellow for the ongoing collaborative research focusing on laminin-based stem cell differentiation technologies for regenerative cardiology. The team is working on translating basic stem cell research into preclinical animal studies to pave the way for future clinical trials.


This role will provide an exciting opportunity for the individual to learn and experience world-class cutting-edge research and play an important role in impacting patients’ lives. The successful candidate will perform a variety of research activities within the overall scope of the research project under the supervision of the Principal Investigator or his/her designate, including but not limited to the following: -

  • Conduct small and large animal, cell culture, and molecular biology research in the area of regenerative cardiology.
  • Write and review research papers, present research outcomes, conceptualise new ideas, and develop plans for independent research which could have a considerable influence and impact on the relevant field attracting research funding. 
  • Develop connections with local and international researchers for collaboration work. 
  • Contribute to project management, and provision of guidance to more junior researchers as well as undergraduate and graduate students. 
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Job Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Science, Health Science, or equivalent with at least 3 years of relevant research and laboratory experience. 
  • Possess laboratory experimental skills such as molecular and cellular biology including cell culture, Western blotting, RNA and DNA extraction, and cloning.
  • Prior experience in tissue histology, sectioning, and immunostaining techniques preferred. 
  • Prior experience in confocal microscopy and fluorescent imaging would be advantageous.
  • A strong team player with a collaborative mindset who is open-minded, energetic, and highly motivated.
