Job Description

 

The Signature Research Programme in Health Services and Systems Research (“HSSR”) is a programme at Duke-NUS Medical School (“Duke-NUS”) in Singapore. Duke-NUS embodies a partnership between Duke University and National University of Singapore. It works closely with the Singapore Health Services (“SingHealth”) cluster, which is a network of national specialty disease centres, hospitals, and polyclinics, to advance medicine and improve lives through cutting-edge research and education. The HSSR programme aims to advance the science in health services and systems research and build capacity to conduct and use health services research. We invite applications from outstanding candidates for a Research Fellow position. 

 


We are seeking an experienced researcher to join the Impact Assessment Unit, jointly managed between Duke-NUS and SingHealth. The ideal candidate will enjoy showing leadership to a small team, a multidisciplinary environment and be able to collaborate effectively with clinical teams on health services research projects. 

 

Opportunities exist for productive collaborations with world-class researchers within HSSR, and with SingHealth clinicians, other staff, and other national health care organisations, as well as the SingHealth Duke-NUS Academic Medicine Innovation Institute. 

 

The job responsibilities are:

 

  • Conduct literature reviews using various search engines and public databases to evaluate the potential value of health innovations.
  • Undertake evidence synthesis, data extraction and data wrangling from institutional databases.
  • Perform health technology assessments (cost analysis, cost effectiveness analysis, cost utility analysis or budget impact analysis).
  • Draft and format evaluation reports for innovation teams and management reporting.
  • Prepare PowerPoint presentations to various stakeholders and present as necessary.
  • Manage projects from start to end (i.e. develop research objectives and study design, perform data extraction and data collation, conduct data modelling, perform statistical analysis, and engage and collaborate with various stakeholders).
  • Perform statistical analyses and other data analyses for various impact assessment projects.
  • Draft research abstracts and manuscripts for publication.
  • Provide guidance to junior staff in the evaluation of innovation projects, including study design, implementation, analysis, and communication of findings.
  • Any other ad-hoc duties as assigned by Head of Department and/or supervisor incidental to the work described therein.
     

Job Requirements

 

  • PhD in Public Health or Health Services Research.
  • Have a track record of completing cost-effectiveness evaluations for health services.
  • Minimum 3 years of work experience (preferably working with data and/or cost-effectiveness). Prior experience in healthcare would be advantageous. 
  • Proficient in Statistical applications and Project Management.
  • Have prior experience working with data, including processing raw data to visualise trends, and able  to make sense of patterns and quantitative impact assessment.  
  • Possess knowledge and skill in data analytics, statistics, and data visualisation.
  • Have excellent communication (verbal & written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work both independently and within a team. 
  • Action-oriented, highly motivated, and target-focused. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
