Job Description

The Signature Research Programme in Emerging Infectious Diseases (EID) aims to pioneer the development and discovery of new and more effective methods for the treatment, prevention and control of new and emerging pathogens. The key outcome of the research will be the early identification of new pathogens, out of which new diagnostic tests, treatments and control strategies will be developed. 
 

The Principal Investigator (PI) in the Laboratory for Experimental Therapeutics who works together with industry collaborators is looking for a full-time Research Fellow position. The laboratory carries out research into pan-flaviviral inhibitor discovery and the candidate will assist the PI to manage external interactions, track projects and draft meeting reports. The candidate will also perform the following:
 

  • Manage and follow-up with external partners and internal departments on the review of agreements and grants. 
  • Track externally funded research budgets of the programme and provide administrative support for grant applications and post-grant award.
  • Oversee multiple projects through monitoring the progress and keeping track of timelines.
  • Manage collaborations with 3 to 4 laboratories in Singapore and work with the industry partner (Janssen in Belgium).  
  • Manage project finance, budget, records, grant administration and policy interpretation processes to ensure smooth operations on a short- and long-range basis. 
  • Manage laboratory & office space within the team.
  • Work across functions with peers and other departments to ensure collaboration for shared goals.
  • Prepare reports and analysis for the PI and collaborators.
  • Maintain proper filing and documentation of all areas of work functions such as agreements and grants.
  • Set up meetings & and minute writing. 
  • Perform other general administrative or related duties incidental to the work or as assigned by PI in coordination with the EID Business Manager.

Job Requirements

  • PhD in Virology or a related biomedical field.
  • Possess a strong background in molecular virology with prior experience on coronavirus research. 
  • Willing to be trained to work in a biosafety level 3 containment laboratory. 
  • Prior experience with animal infection studies (especially mouse model) is preferred.
  • Prior knowledge in drug discovery would be advantageous.
  • Possess excellent quantitative, analytical and organisational skills.
  • A strong team player who is open-minded, energetic, highly motivated and can work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team and diverse workforce.
