Job Description

The Neuroscience and Behavioural Disorders (NBD) Programme is focused on understanding the structure and function of the nervous system, and the neural mechanisms underlying human neurological, psychiatric, and ophthalmological disorders.
 
A postdoctoral fellow position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Jun Nishiyama (https://www.duke-nus.edu.sg/directory/detail/nishiyama-jun). The successful candidate will lead a project to study molecular mechanisms underlying synaptic function and dysfunction in psychiatric disorders using cutting-edge optical technologies in combination with a variety of molecular and genome editing tools. We are looking for highly qualified and motivated individuals with a Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree in neuroscience or closely related fields. We welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds who have the desire to learn and develop new techniques in different fields. Candidates with prior experience in electrophysiology or omics analysis are especially encouraged to apply.
 
 The major responsibilities and duties include but are not limited to the following:
•    Independently and efficiently carry out research projects.
•    Actively interact and collaborate with other researchers and students.
•    Present research data at laboratory meetings and conferences and write manuscripts for publications.
•    Prepare research proposals and grant applications.
•    Supervise and guide junior researchers, graduate students, and undergraduates.
•    Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Job Requirements


•    Ph.D. or MD/Ph.D. degree in neuroscience or related fields.
•    A strong background in molecular and cellular biology, biochemistry, and/or electrophysiology is preferred.
•    Effective organizational skills and interpersonal communication with strong writing and presentation skills in English.
•    A strong team player with a collaborative mindset who is open-minded, energetic, and highly motivated.
