Job Description

The SingHealth Duke-NUS Global Health Institute (SDGHI) aims to address current and emerging health challenges in Southeast Asia and more widely in Asia-Pacific. Working in collaboration with partners such as other academic institutions in the region, private sector partners, governments, policy makers, NGOs, industry and donors, the Institute seeks to tackle prevalent health challenges, strengthen national health systems as well as better insulate countries from pandemics and disease threats.

SDGHI’s Innovation Core priority initiatives include:
1)    Building a regional portfolio of innovation projects that we will be actively supporting, including frugal innovation projects, global surgery innovation, novel rapid diagnostic test and systems, innovation for maternal and new-born care, and service delivery innovation.

2)    Investigating and directly support Health AI and digital solutions initiatives that can be applied in the Global Health arena, utilized as instruments to enhance access and improve health outcomes for the region's population. This will include projects on AI in Genomics and other flagships Health AI initiatives with clinical and academic partners at the AMC and in the region.

3)    Host and lead the first Asia-Pacific Innovation Hackathon on SGH Campus which will be focused on addressing health challenges arising from climate change through innovative solutions. Regional teams will come together to develop affordable and scalable solutions suitable for various settings, including low- and middle-income countries. 

4)    Support and actively teach on the newly registered DukeNUS Graduate Certificate in Global Health Innovation. These courses aim to build capacity in Global Health Innovation and to produce new regional leaders in this discipline.

 

We are recruiting a Research Fellow to support and lead these efforts and initiatives. The selected candidate will report to the Lead, Innovation Science in Global Health, and perform a variety of project management, partner coordination, outreach, and education support activities to support the Core’s initiatives.

 

The responsibilities include: 

  • Support the formation and establishment of a portfolio of regional innovation projects that show promise, potential for replicability and possible paths to scale.
  • Integrate a global health focus within existing appropriate innovation programmes and projects.
  • Enable the adoption of innovations-at-scale by identifying and responding to systems-related requirements in Asia in close collaboration with regional partners.
  • Advance capacity for innovation science in Asia to address pressing global health challenges
  • Support the coordination and delivery of the novel Global Health Innovation Graduate Certificate and the courses that it is composed of.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Public Health, Global Heath, Science, Social Science or other disciplines related to Global Health Innovation. Alternatively, a Medical Degree with additional Global Health and Innovation experience may be considered. 
  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience and have working knowledge of healthcare organisations and regional health systems in both academic and clinical settings.
  • Possess strong project management, coordination and analytical skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience in data reporting and academic publication preferred.
  • Familiarity and hands-on experience on working with Health AI and/or digital health solutions within the realm of global health applications.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, statistics, data visualisation and presentation software.
  • Able to travel regionally.
