Job Description
The selected candidate will work in the Centre for Vision Research on a variety of tasks and activities to ensure the Centre’ smooth day-to-day operations. He/She will be responsible for general administration, coordination and execution of a variety of business functions including but not limited to the following: -
Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support to Director and Principal Investigators (PIs) throughout the entire grant cycle from application to completion.
- Manage research grants such as budget utilisation, cashflow projections, manpower tracking and assist PIs with progress/final reports.
- Track externally funded research budgets of the Centre and provide administrative support for grant applications and post-grant award.
- Prepare and consolidate reimbursement claims of staff to Finance (Duke-NUS) and resolve any matters that may arise.
- Be the point of contact between PIs and cross-functional departments (e.g. Contracts & Industry Engagement, Research Affairs, etc.) to ensure that projects are aligned with University's guidelines.
- Prepare, plan and organise/coordinate visits for prospective faculty members / invited speakers.
- Responsible for procurement activities for both Duke-NUS & Singapore Eye Research Institute (SERI), and ensure compliance with guidelines from both institutions.
- Manage laboratory and office space within the Centre.
- Serve as the central liaison between Duke-NUS, SERI and Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC) for academic matters related to the Centre’s faculties.
- Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein or as assigned by the supervisor.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Life Sciences or other related fields
- 3 to 6 years of work experience, with prior work experience in grant administration, research or academic environment being advantageous.
- Have strong analytical, interpersonal, influencing and communication skills to work with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Meticulous, well-organised and have good time management to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Possesses effective problem-solving skills, a strong team player and able to work effectively in a diverse work environment.
- Proficient in administrative skills and in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power-point) and Adobe Acrobat (PDF).
