Job Description


We are seeking a Senior Manager / Associate Director to play a significant role in developing the next phase of the Centre for Ageing Research & Education (CARE) in its research and education activities. The successful candidate will have a background in business administration or related fields, and a successful track record of leadership with the ability to manage the Centre's portfolio of research and education projects. Working closely with the Director, the successful candidate will support the Centre's vision to work with a cross-disciplinary team, develop and lead research and education agendas in ageing-related issues, and undertake collaborative projects with partners across academia, industry and local and national government. 


This post represents an opportunity to lead the growth of research and education at CARE, and the responsibilities will include but not limited to the following: -  


  • Work closely with the Director of CARE in leading the work of the Centre’s administrative and research staff, as well as in managing the day-to-day operations of the Centre.
  • Assist with developing and implementing plans and goals of the Centre.
  • Assist the Deputy Director to develop the Centre’s workplan and ensure workplan is being followed and provide reporting to the Ministry of Health.
  • Monitor attainment of Centre’s KPIs and oversee the Centre’s budgeting and monitoring of expenses.
  • Spearhead the Centre’s education activities including sourcing for speakers, scheduling and administration for webinars, seminars and roundtables.
  • Develop and implement plans to obtain philanthropic funding for the Centre.
  • Work with the Deputy Director to coordinate and supervise daily operations.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations and internal policies of Duke-NUS Medical School and National University of Singapore.
  • Monitor project budgets and liaise with vendors. 
  • Supervise interns at the Centre and their work plan.
  • Maintain scheduling of events and represent the Centre when needed.
  • Create reports and submit them to the Director or other executives. 
  • Oversee and support staff related matters in the Centre such as manpower requisition, recruitment and staff on-boarding/departure.  
  • Oversee the development the Centre’s website and ensure timely updates.
  • Create and maintain the quarterly newsletter of the Centre.  
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein or as assigned by the Department.

Job Requirements


  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Business Administration or other a related disciplines.
  • Minimum 8 to 10 years of relevant work experience with at least 4 to 6 years of proven experience in a managerial related role and/or similar position.
  • Possess excellent knowledge of budget and operations management.
  • Have knowledge of relevant regulations and quality standards.
  • Have excellent interpersonal, organisational and leadership skills with outstanding communication and public speaking abilities.
  • A leader and critical thinker with the ability to solve problems/issues before they become obstacles.
  • Proficient in MS Office, financial databases and software (e.g. SAP).
