Job Description
Duke-NUS Medical School (Duke-NUS) was established through a landmark collaboration between two world-class institutions; Duke University and National University of Singapore, with the objective of providing innovative education and impactful research that enhance the practice of medicine in Singapore and beyond.
The successful candidate will work with the Director, Research Operations to provide overall business support for the Office of Research, including but not limited to the following:
Finance role
- Work with Director, Research Operations to plan budgets by analysing and forecasting operational needs and expenses for the Office of Research.
- Manage and support financial budgeting, assessment and implementation of operational impact for new strategic initiatives.
- Support finance business modelling and analysis to provide finance insights for better decision making.
- Provide process and system expertise related to accounting and budgeting/forecasting operations.
- Review and streamline current processes for optimal budget preparation, monitoring, and utilisation to enhance operational efficiency, controls, and compliance.
- Provide advisory on risk, governance, and compliance requirements.
- Participate in business transformation initiatives and to manage process, team and system changes and implementation.
- Act as a liaison between Finance Department and stakeholders, facilitating communication and collaboration.
Administrative role
- Liaise with the Signature Research Programmes on budget and administrative matters.
- Prepare and liaise with Board Secretariat on approval papers and other relevant matters for Board approval.
- Manage administration of Office of Research meetings.
- Track and report on progress on key performance indicators and outcomes.
- Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein, or as assigned by the Department.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in accounting, business, finance, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 8 to 10 years of relevant work experience in accounting and finance with at least 4 years in a leadership related role.
- Possess strong communication and presentation skills in both verbal and written.
- Have strong interpersonal skills and decision-making acumen with the ability to work effectively across different functions.
- Proficient in SAP Finance Modules; MS Office applications and Business Intelligence tools.
- Have strong knowledge in financial analysis, forecasting, planning, problem-solving and critical thinking.
- Self-directed, hands-on, and motivated with a high degree of commitment to meeting deadlines, targets and objectives.
- Attentive to details and work within a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and a sense of urgency.
- Able to effectively multi-task and perform well under pressure, both independently and as part of a team.
- Technically competent with up-to-date knowledge of accounting standards and practices.
- Possess knowledge in audit and controls procedures.
