Job Description

Duke-NUS invites applications for two full time Development Learning Technologist positions in the Digital Learning Centre within the Department of Technology Enhanced Learning and Innovation, Office of Education. The roles and responsibilities will include but are not limited to: -
- Contribute to the strategic vision for Digital Learning within Duke-NUS Medical School.
- Support the installation of a new Integrated Learning and Teaching Platform (ILTP), ensuring its successful operation and overseeing the phased migration of existing content.
- Provide ILTP enhancements and customisation for content delivery, curriculum tracking, assessment, e-portfolio, learner support and pedagogical innovation.
- Assist in all aspects of the development cycle: consultation with faculty, departments and other key users; analysis; design; development, testing and deployment.
- Explore and make proposals for how the different ILTP modules may be improved.
- Deliver customisation and/or enhancements within the agreed timescales, working collaboratively with faculty, staff and students, where relevant.
- Create clear/concise documentation to support use/further development of customised ILTP modules.
- Regularly evaluate, review and adapt Instructional Design approaches and processes.
- Assist in the review and evaluation of the effectiveness of the ILTP and the various pedagogies across the Digital Learning Centre portfolio.
- Champion innovation in learning design through applying a variety of analytical techniques to learn from and improve upon current practice.
- Identify, explore (and if appropriate implement) new technologies and best practice.
- Keep abreast of developments in Educational techniques and technologies to enhance teaching, learning and assessment.
- Develop strong working relationships with Digital Learning Centre users.
- Perform duties as assigned by the reporting officer.


- Degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Web Design / Programming, Instructional/Educational Design and/or Education.
- Minimum 3 to 4 years of work experience in instructional design and development and/or professional software / web / database programming.
- Experience of PHP framework, OOP concepts and design patterns (e.g, Laravel, Symfony, Zend Framework), Javascript framework (e.g., Vue.js) and MariaDB (MySQL) database server environment.
- Proficient with Linux operating system, integrated development environments (e.g. PhpStorm, NetBeans, Eclipse) and advanced Git software version control.
- Strong user interface design and development skills (HTML, Cascading Style Sheets, Javascript, etc).
- Demonstrated ability to learn and adapt to rapidly changing technologies.
- Possess analytical and problem-solving skills to arrive at efficient solutions under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Has knowledge of sound pedagogy-based teaching and assessment methods and techniques.
- Able to analyse / evaluate information to solve database/web application problems.
- Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with a variety of people.
- Self-motivated, well organized and able to work individually/as part of a dynamic team.
- Attentive to details and able to follow formal business practices.
