Job Description

Responsible for providing maintenance and customisation of the School’s Integrated Teaching and Learning Platform (ITLP), including but not limited to the following: -  

•    Assist the Digital Learning Centre (DLC) Lead and Senior Development Learning Technologist in the overall administrative management of a variety of business-related functions.
•    Plan and execute the Department’s and DLC’s initiatives/projects.
•    Responsible for the full software development cycle, from conception to deployment for the school’s integrated teaching and learning platform based on Elentra, a medical school consortium-based open-source learning management system.
•    Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to design and launch new features to support the School’s requirements in teaching, learning and assessment.
•    Write clean, functional, responsive and efficient code on the front- and back-end.
•    Create visually appealing and user-friendly interfaces with a mobile responsive design.
•    Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade software, fixing bugs or other coding issues.
•    Write technical documentation and conduct training for stakeholders.
•    Review, enhance and streamline work processes for value-add impacts and outcomes
•    Keep abreast of developments in educational techniques and technologies.
•    Support or manage other projects/duties as required to fulfil the School’s needs.
•    Perform other duties incidental to the work as assigned by the HoD or DLC Lead.

Qualifications

•    Degree or equivalent in Computer Science or Software Engineering.
•    Minimum 4 to 6 years of work experience in full stack software development.
•    Prior experience working in an academic environment and having knowledge of sound pedagogy-based teaching and assessment methods would be advantageous.
•    Have experience in PHP framework, OOP concepts and design patterns (e.g, Laravel, Symfony, Zend Framework), Javascript framework (e.g., Vue.js) and MariaDB (MySQL) database server environment.
•    Possess deep expertise and hands-on experience with Web Applications and programming languages such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JQuery and APIs.
•    Proficient with Linux operating system, integrated development environments (e.g. PhpStorm, NetBeans, Eclipse) and advanced Git software version control.
•    Have strong analytical and problem-solving skills to arrive at efficient solutions under pressure to meet deadlines.
•    Demonstrated ability to learn and adapt to rapidly changing technologies
•    Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills 
•    Self-motivated, well organised and able to work individually and as part of a dynamic team
