Job Description

Duke-NUS Medical School invites applications for the position of Associate I/Associate II, 3D Printing in the Department of Technology Enhanced Learning and Innovation, Office of Education. This position is part of the new education excellence strategy of the Office of Education, and of the wider strategic vision of Duke-NUS Medical School to be an international centre of excellence.

The successful candidate will contribute to the establishment of 3D Modelling and 3D Printing as routinely used technologies to support and enhance the MD curriculum, combining a range of additive manufacturing technologies and materials. The roles and responsibilities will include but not limited to: -


  • Participate in the general teaching, service and administrative responsibilities of the Office of Education as determined by the reporting officer.
  • Participate in the development and delivery of the educational strategy for the Office of Education, with emphasis on promoting and supporting the use of 3D modelling and 3D Printing.
  • Consult with faculty and staff, including trainees and students, regarding the use of 3D modelling and 3D Printing.
  • Collaborate with Clinical Faculty and investigators to explore and pilot the use of 3D modelling and 3D Printing across the MD curriculum, including but not limited to anatomy teaching and procedural skills simulation.
  • Conduct workshops, courses and other programmes of development to build 3D modelling and 3D Printing capacity and capabilities across the SingHealth Duke-NUS Academic Medical Centre (AMC).
  • Liaise with groups and individuals in the SingHealth Duke-NUS AMC working on 3D modelling and/or 3D Printing.
  • Apply for intramural and extramural funding for studies and programmes in the 3D modelling and/or 3D Printing domain.
  • Publish and present 3D modelling and/or 3D Printing papers at peer-reviewed forums.
  • Develop strong working relationships with Digital Learning Centre staff.
  • Establish links and collaborations with 3D modelling and 3D Printing groups and centres across Singapore and beyond.
  • Collaborate with and support scholarship activities of the faculty in the Office of Education.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by reporting officer.


  • Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or other related/relevant fields.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in the use of 3D Printing, including but not limited to FDM, SLA, SLS, SLM.
  • Prior experience in the use of single and multi-material 3D Printing in healthcare and/or medical education, and 3D modelling tools (e.g. SolidWorks, Blender, 3Ds Max, Fusion 360, etc).
  • Able to explain and demonstrate in a clear and concise manner the affordances of 3D modelling and 3D Printing technologies.
  • Possess exceptional time management and organisational skills with the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and meet project deadlines.
  • Accessible, calm, flexible and mature individual with superlative interpersonal skills to work independently as well as in a team environment, establish credibility with staff at all levels and of different disciplines and backgrounds.
  • Committed to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion in sharing of information.
  • Have good written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Able to mentor faculty and Digital Learning Centre staff in 3D modelling and 3D Printing technologies.
