Job Description

The successful candidate will report to the Programme Director and provide support in the overall administration and coordination of a variety of operations for the Signature Research Programme in Emerging Infectious Diseases. He/She will be responsible for general administration, coordination and execution of a variety of business functions including but not limited to the following: -


  • Handle and follow-up with external partners and internal departments for review of MOUs, research agreements, lease agreements, service agreements etc.
  • Track externally funded research budgets of the programme and provide administrative support for grant applications and post-grant award.
  • Manage research grants such as budget utilisation, cashflow projections, manpower tracking and assist Principal Investigators with progress/final reports. 
  • Manage laboratory and office space within the programme.
  • Handle import and export permits.
  • Maintain proper filing and documentation of all areas of work functions such as agreements and grants.
  • Set up meetings & coordinating events such as retreats and conferences.
  • Minute writer for departmental meetings.
  • Undertake any ad-hoc duties assigned by Business Manager, Principal Investigators and the Programme Director.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Life Sciences or related fields
  • Prior work experience in a research or academic environment would be advantageous.
  • Proactive with a positive attitude and able to relate well with all levels of staff and students.
  • Possess excellent organisational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to multi-task and have discretion with confidential information. 
  • Mature, resourceful, meticulous and a team-player.
  • Proficient in administrative skills and in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power-point) and Adobe Acrobat (PDF).
