Job Description

The Cardiovascular and Metabolic Disorders (CVMD) Programme houses state-of-the-art technologies for profiling mitochondrial function and metabolic adaptations in human patients and other model organisms, and undertakes translational and clinical research in cardiovascular and metabolic disorders.


The Diabetic Nephropathy and Microvascular Complications Lab led by Professor Thomas Coffman has its research interests in the renin-angiotensin and prostanoid systems, as well as investigating susceptibility genes in diabetic nephropathy. The successful applicant will be part of the DYNAMO project team, a multi-institution collaborative effort.  

  • Responsible for accurate and timely management of the laboratory’s reagent, animal inventory and documentation.
  • Provide general laboratory maintenance including laboratory organisation, stock inventory, safety and compliance management.
  • Handle animals and manage mice colony. Perform routine genotyping as well as assays like ELISA, PCR and western blottings.
  • Involved in carrying out basic procedures and experiments, data collection and analysis. 
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the reporting officer, such as conducting experiments where required. 

Job Requirements

  • Diploma in Biology, Life Science, Biotechnology or related field with at least 2 years of relevant work experience. 
  • Prior work experience in a research or academic environment would be advantageous. 
  • Basic laboratory skills and ability to follow protocols.
  • Meticulous, well-organised and have good time management to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to communicate clearly, a strong team player and able to work effectively in a diverse work environment.
