Research Assistant (CSCB/AMC)

Job Description

The Laboratory for Translational and Molecular Imaging (LTMI) under the Cancer ImmunoTherapy Imaging “CITI” programme at Duke-NUS Medical School aims to develop local infrastructure and deep capabilities in the development of molecular imaging technologies for guiding the advancement and translation of cancer immunotherapies and companion diagnostics. LTMI is looking for a Research Assistant to support in vitro and in vivo research efforts surrounding drug delivery systems and tracking via nuclear and optical imaging. 

  • Perform in vitro cell assays (e.g. viability, uptake assays) and molecular biology experiments (e.g. PCR, Western blot).
  • Animal handling, including the injection of test materials, inducing tumour models and follow-up in vivo and ex vivo assessment of the animal.
  • Handle radioactive materials for in vitro and in vivo studies.
  • Responsible for maintaining cells, creating cell banks, and performing quality control.
  • Perform histological studies (e.g. IHC, IF, H&E staining).
  • Prepare nano-sized drug delivery systems (e.g. liposomes, nanoparticles, nano lipogels) and conduct follow up in vitro assays (e.g. In vitro release, stability studies).
  • Carry out laboratory experiments according to SOPs.
  • Ensure accurate monitoring, documenting and reporting of experimental results and research findings.
  • Assist in procurement and inventory of equipment, chemicals, reagents, and consumables.
  • Assist in management of multiple projects.
  • Maintain laboratory records (MSDS, chemical, biohazard) and assist in preparation of SOPs.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Molecular Biology, Biology, Biochemistry or a related scientific area with at least 2 years of relevant research experience and training
  • Prior in vivo experience (particularly mouse models) required
  • Cell culture, molecular biology, in vitro assays and tissue analysis experience required
  • A team player who is able to prioritise, multi-task and work collaboratively in a diverse workforce.
