Job Description

The Cardiovascular and Metabolic Disorders (CVMD) Programme houses state-of-the-art technologies for profiling mitochondrial function and metabolic adaptations in human patients and other model organisms, and undertakes translational and clinical research in cardiovascular and metabolic disorders.


The selected candidate will perform a variety of research activities within the overall scope of a research project under the supervision of the Principal Investigator or his/her designate, including but not limited to the following: -

  • Animal handling (mouse), in particular mice models of motabolic diseases (obesity and NAFLD), performing glucose and insulin tolrance tests, MRI and related experiments. 
  • Perform cell lines culture and maintenance, protein extraction, western blotting, RNA extraction and analysis of mRNA expression (qPCR).
  • Bacterial culture and molecular cloning.
  • Assist with general upkeep of laboratory needs such as ordering of laboratory supplies, stock-keeping, equipment maintenance; maintain safety protocols, provide technical support and establish work procedures to ongoing research projects.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor or Master Degree in Sciences / Life Sciences / Biological Sciences or equivelent.
  • Demonstrated basic knowledge, skills and expertise in supporting various research activities.
  • Knowledge of the scientific background relevant to the research area.
  • Laboratory experimental skills.
  • Strong team player who is open-minded, energetic, highly motivated and can work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team and diverse workforce.
