Job Description

The Cancer and Stem Cell Biology (CSCB) Programme studies the causes and treatments of cancer and related diseases. The CSCB research groups have diverse programmes in both basic cancer biology and clinical-translational studies, with a special emphasis on cancers that affect the Asian community in general.

We are looking for a talented and dynamic postdoctoral Research Fellow to work with a multidisciplinary group of scientists on the telomere maintenance in human cancer and aging. The Research Fellow will be part of the NMRC funded project that is coordinated by Duke-NUS Medical School and will support the bioinformatics needs in the successful accomplishment of the proposed research aims. The job is available immediately and it will be for a period of at least two years, with possible extension depending on performance and funding availability.

Provide expertise in conducting research activities, including but not limited to planning, organizing, conducting, and communicating research studies within the overall scope of the research project at Duke-NUS.

  • Conduct analysis of large-scale genomics data, including (but not limited to) WGS and transcriptomic data.
  • Experience with using computational tools written in one/all R, PERL and Python. 
  • Application of qualitative and quantitative research techniques which include accurate in-depth assessment, interpretation and evaluation of next generation sequencing data sets (e.g., ChIP-Seq, RNAseq, scRNA-seq, etc.) and long read sequencing (e.g., PacBio Hi-Fi sequencing platform and Nanopore sequencing platform), as well as conceptualise new ideas and develop plans for independent research. 
  • Write and review research papers, presenting research outcomes and develop connections with local and international researchers for collaboration work.
  • Contribute to project management, provision of guidance to more junior researchers as well as undergraduate and graduate students, occasional educational/instructional activities.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Job Requirements

  • PhD in a related scientific area (e.g. Bioinformatics/Computational Biology) with demonstrated bioinformatics and genetics expertise and experience.
  • Demonstrated very good knowledge, skills and expertise, with potential to achieve research excellence.
  • Experience in data analysis and statistical modelling of RNA-Seq, ChIP-seq, single cell RNA-seq and have experience in long read sequencing platform data analysis.
  • High impact publications.
  • Strong computational biology skills (experience in R, Perl, Python, SQL, Bash etc).
  • A team player who is able to prioritise, multi-task and work collaboratively in a diverse workforce.
