Job Description

The Centre, under the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, currently teaches thirteen languages at elementary, intermediate, and advanced levels, mainly to undergraduates. 

The purpose of the Educator Track Scheme is to attract, nurture, and retain suitably qualified and highly effective faculty members who approach teaching as a scholarly practice, and who therefore focus on and are passionate about excellence in teaching as a means of supporting student learning.

Applicants for the position should have at least a Master’s degree in Teaching French as a Foreign Language, or in a related field. At least three years of experience in teaching French as a foreign language and in curriculum development at any level are required (teaching experience at the tertiary level would be an advantage). The appointee’s duties will include teaching, curriculum development, course coordination as well as administrative duties. Remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Relocation, leave, medical and housing benefits are provided in accordance with the applicable NUS regulations. The appointment will be made on a 3-year non-renewable basis.

A teaching philosophy statement (2000 words max.) providing the applicant’s reflection on his/her educational approach; 4. A copy of recent official student evaluations; 5. A sample of self-developed lesson plans and materials; 6. A link to a 3-minute video that demonstrates a teaching innovation and its impact as a resource for wider adoption; 7. The names and e-mail addresses of three academic referees.
