Job Description

The National University of Singapore will hire one Postdoctoral Fellow (post-doc) with expertise in linguistic theory and psycholinguistics. The position will be for 18 months and has a preferred start date of October 2026.

The post-doc will work on aspects of these languages, with an emphasis on phenomena like ellipsis, contraction, and code-switching, where speakers can choose among alternative forms that are otherwise (nearly) semantically equivalent.

There is no teaching obligation.

Salary will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications. Funds exist for experimentation, publication expenses, and conference travel, if and when available.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have relevant research experience, including in experimentation, and a familiarity of Singapore English and/or its adstrate languages (Chinese and Malay varieties). The postdoc must have their PhD in hand by the start of the position.
