Job Description
The Department of Communications and New Media in Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow position to work with the principal investigator, Dr. Alisius Leong. The successful candidate will design and execute independent and collaborative research projects investigating how social technologies (i.e., artificial intelligence (AI), social media) shape environmental messaging and public engagement in the context of Singapore's net-zero goals.This includes examining topics such as: How have developments in social technologies changed environmental messaging strategies? How do social media algorithms influence what information the public encounter? How does AI reshape who and what audiences trust when forming opinions? You are expected to leverage on mixed-method and computational approaches to answer these questions.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. degree in Communication, psychology, computational social science, or a closely related discipline.
- Strong track record of scholarly activities including publication in reputable peer-reviewed journals and conference presentations.
- Experience with experiment & survey design.
- Proficiency in quantitative advanced statistical methods (e.g., SPSS, R), computational modeling, and/or NLP methods.
- Experience working on topics related to science, environmental, risk communication; public opinion and engagement
- Strong academic writing skills.
