Research Assistant for “AI and Fake News” Project (Department of Communications and New Media, NUS
Job Purpose/ Description:
As part of the research team for a project on AI and fake news, this research assistant will be hired for the duration of January to September 2026 (9 months), to help the principal investigator with analysing content to produce related research articles.
Job Requirements/ Responsibilities:
• Conduct systematic literature reviews on topics related to news, journalism, artificial intelligence, and fake news
• Collect news stories for analysis, conduct coding of these stories, execute the analysis using Excel or SPSS, and report on their findings in research papers
• Will have the opportunity to propose research papers of their own as first author, and work in collaboration with the faculty member to produce articles for publication in journals
• Other administrative duties include but are not limited to transcribing interviews, checking references, formatting manuscripts, looking for research papers, organizing contacts and email correspondences, inputting and checking data, etc.
Qualifications:
• A strong Bachelor’ degree or Master’s degree in Mass Communication or a related field
• Demonstrated experience or training in conducting social science research, particularly content analysis, and is well-versed in research paper writing
• Responsible, detail-oriented and a fast learner
• Proactive in seeking out information relevant to the work and discussing issues and problems
