Job Description

The Department of Chinese Studies at the National University of Singapore (NUS) is inviting applications for a full-time research assistant for two years. The research assistant will work with the Principal Investigator, Dr. Huang Yanjie (Presidential Young Professor, Chinese Studies, NUS), for the research project “Developmental Lessons: Inter-Asian Exchanges and China’s Economic Reform” funded by Singapore Ministry of Education’s Social Sciences and Humanities Research Fellowship. The research assistant will be responsible for collecting and digitalizing archival and oral sources in Chinese and English, as well as organizing academic events. The candidate will be provided with a competitive salary and subsidized health insurance commensurate with experience and qualification of the candidate. The planned start date for the position is between June to August 2026.

Qualifications

We welcome applicants with a BA (Honors) or higher in Chinese Studies, History or any relevant discipline. Incoming fresh graduates are also welcome. Applicants are required to have strong bilingual proficiency in English and Mandarin as they will need to conduct research in both languages.
