Job Description

We invite applications for a full-time one-year position as a Research Assistant. 

 

The successful candidate will assist, support, and work with two interdisciplinary teams led by the Principal Investigator (Dr. Michelle Ho) on two projects, “Campus Sexual Misconduct in a Digital Age (CASMIDA): Perspectives from Singapore,” and “Queer Men in Singapore: Digital Intimacies, Sexual Behaviors, and Mpox Perceptions.” Find out more about the two projects at CASMIDA.com and queermeninsg.wordpress.com

 

Responsibilities of a Research Assistant related to this project include but are not limited to: 

 

  • Administrative duties and day-to-day management of the project
  • Scheduling team meetings and taking minutes and liaising with other team members
  • Project communications including fielding emails, managing and maintaining our social media platforms, and updating and developing our project websites.
  • Managing all participant reimbursements and communication with research participants.
  • Assisting in administrative process for ethics approval, including renewals and amendments where necessary.
  • Overseeing the logistics of carrying out field research including recruiting research participants, scheduling and conducting interviews and online surveys, and transcribing, organizing, and analyzing the data collected
  • Writing literature review on thematic areas related to the two projects
  • Co-authoring research reports, publications, conference papers, grant proposals, and other scholarly writing. Research Assistant will be acknowledged as co-authors alongside the rest of the team.
  • Contributing to the Research Committee as a part of the CNM department.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate should: 

  • hold a bachelor's degree in any field in the social sciences, including but not limited to: gender studies, media and communication studies, sociology, anthropology, and cultural studies. Candidates on the verge of completing their master’s degrees are also welcome to apply.
  • have a strong commitment to social justice and research interests in gender and sexuality issues in Singapore. 
  • be well-versed in qualitative research methods and analysis. Familiarity with or the willingness to learn quantitative research methods would be advantageous
  • have good writing, communication, and (time) management skills

 

As this is a full-time research position, the Research Assistant is expected to reside in Singapore during the one-year term, except for vacation and academic leave. All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however, Singaporean citizens and Permanent Residents will be given priority. 

 

The anticipated start date for this position is August 1, 2024
