Job Description
This project aims to establish a circa 2020 baseline rice reference map and calibrate it using high-resolution satellite imagery or commercial satellite imagery, producing a detailed accuracy assessment report of the rice paddy map over targeted regions.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Visual interpretation of high-resolution satellite imageries and create training samples for rice paddies
- Compile and evaluate historical reference maps and datasets
- Create rice paddy maps over targeted regions and write summary report
Qualifications
Required Skills:
- A MS or BS in environmental sciences, geography, civil engineering, earth system sciences, statistics, or a related field.
- Experience with programming languages (R, Python, MATLAB or similar)
- Experience with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, ENVI, QGIS)
- Good understanding in statistics/data science
- Highly organized and proactive, and with the ability to work independently
Desired Skills:
- Experience with Google Earth Engine
- Experience with digital image processing
- Experience with research and data management
Terms of Appointment and Application Process
Terms of Appointment:
- The appointment will be tenable for a maximum period of 18 months.
