The Department of Geography at the National University of Singapore (https://fass.nus.edu.sg/geog/) is seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Research Fellow to study the climate resilience and threshold of trees in Singapore and tropical Asia, using satellite remote sensing and a wide array of ground observations (i.e., phenocam, Lidar, sap flow). The Postdoc is expected to integrate the advanced knowledge in plant physiology, remote sensing and ecological theories to advance our understanding of ecosystem functions and their response to climate change.

Job Description

The ideal candidate is expected to be highly creative, have strong numerical and critical thinking skills, a working familiarity with plant physiology and ecosystem functions. This position is funded by a National Environment Agency Climate Impact Science Research project and the Postdoc is expected to work closely with the National Parks Board. • The formulation and testing of ecological hypotheses on vegetation dynamics.
  • Presentation of results at international conferences.
  • Writing and publishing in scientific journals.

Qualifications

  • PhD in physical geography, ecology, remote sensing, environment science or a related field (preferably less than 3 years postdoctoral experience).
  • Proficient coding skills in at least one of Matlab, R and Python.
