Job Description
The Lead of the Assessment and Special Projects team will play a crucial role in overseeing the strategic and operational aspects of assessment management within the Undergraduate Studies Office at NUS Business School. This role is integral to ensuring the integrity, fairness, and continuous improvement of the school's assessment practices, while also spearheading high-impact special projects that align with the School’s academic and strategic goals. The incumbent is expected to work closely with academic staff, administrative members, and external stakeholders to drive excellence in assessment processes and to lead initiatives that enhance the overall educational experience.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Assessment Management
- Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of all assessment-related activities, including examinations, grading, and academic integrity processes
- Ensure adherence to the University’s policies and procedures regarding assessments, maintaining the highest standards of quality and fairness
- Manage and resolve complex assessment-related issues, including appeals and special considerations, in a fair and timely manner
- Collaborate with academic departments to ensure assessments align with curriculum goals and learning outcomes
- Oversee the development and implementation of innovative assessment strategies, leveraging technology and best practices to enhance assessment processes
- Monitor trends and developments in higher education assessment practices, ensuring the business school remains at the forefront of innovation
2. Special Projects
- Lead and manage special projects that advance the strategic objectives of the business school, such as curriculum innovation, digital transformation, and student success initiatives
- Develop project plans, set milestones, and manage resources effectively to ensure successful project delivery within scope, time, and budget
- Work with cross-functional teams, including department administration, faculty members and IT, to drive project initiatives and achieve desired outcomes
- Provide regular updates and reports on project progress to senior management, identifying risks and proposing solutions to mitigate them
3. Leadership and Stakeholder Engagement
- Lead a small team of executive and administrative staff, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance management to ensure the team’s success
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all assessment-related matters, liaising with the deanery, administrative teams, and external units as needed
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging the adoption of best practices and new technologies in assessment and project management
- Where applicable, represent the business school in university-wide committees and working groups related to assessment and academic administration
- The incumbent may be assigned additional special tasks or projects by the leadership to support the continuous development and strategic growth of the business school, in the spirit of staff development and growth
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in Education, Business Administration, or a related field
- At least 8 years of experience in academic administration, with a focus on assessment management. Experience in project leadership will be an added advantage.
- Strong understanding of higher education assessment practices, policies, and regulations
- Proven track record of managing mid to large-scale projects, from planning to execution and evaluation
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation
- Preference will be given to candidates who can display proficiency in using technology to enhance administrative/assessment processes and project management
(Appointment job grade will commensurate with the selected candidate's experience)
