Job Purpose

To provide administrative and operational support to the Centre for Asian Legal Studies (CALS) and the Centre for Legal Theory (CLT) in order to facilitate the achievement of both Research Centres’ desired outcomes in the Faculty of Law. 

Job Description

The staff will be part of the Centre Shared Services team, providing administrative and operational support to both the Centre for Asian Legal Studies (CALS) and the Centre for Legal Theory (CLT). This includes supporting the Centre Manager and Centre Directors in the following areas of work:

  • Appointment and hosting of full-time/visiting researchers as well as visiting scholars,
  • Funding application processing,
  • Research project grant administration and tracking of deliverables,
  • Tracking Centre-affiliated publications,
  • Financial matters such as processing payments and tracking claims under projects/grants and researchers,
  • Tracking of Centre monthly financial statements,
  • Supporting Centre events,
  • General administrative housekeeping, and
  • Any other duties as assigned by the Centre Manager and Centre Directors. 


  • Preferably a Diploma holder with at least 3 to 5 years of related working experience in education/research grant administration is preferred. Those with other qualifications AND with relevant work experiences are also welcome to apply. 
  • Proactive and able to work independently with minimal supervision. 
  • Service-oriented, meticulous with a willingness to learn, and a team player. 
  • Able to work efficiently under time-sensitive circumstances. 
  • Strong organisational and time management skills. 
  • Possesses a pleasant disposition with good written and verbal communication skills to engage with internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Proficient in MS Office.
