Job Description
• Support and manage the administration of college-level interdisciplinary-type community engagement courses hosted by the College of Design and Engineering (CDE) Dean’s Office such as the Innovation and Design for Communities course (CDE2001), including interfacing for community partnerships and enhancing the student learning experience.
• Coordinate and support overseas community engagement trips organized by departments and student bodies, ensuring alignment under a single oversight to reduce overlap and maximise synergy in student participation and learning experience.
• Develop and drive new overseas community engagement strategies that provide opportunities for interdisciplinary learning among students from different majors within CDE.
• Develop and drive new local educational programmes and events that promote interdisciplinary learning and interactions between CDE students from different majors as well as outreach to prospective students.
• Manage partnerships and communications with key internal and external stakeholders as the primary point-of-contact to ensure alignment.
• Track community sentiment and provide recommendations to optimise engagement strategies.
• Provide timely reporting to senior management.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Design or Engineering.
• Prior experience in overseas service-learning or other overseas community engagement efforts. Experience in leading groups is preferred.
• Established network of overseas community partners as contacts for establishing new strategies and opportunities.
• Minimum of 1 year of intensive experience involving direct interaction with a diverse group of students.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and strong stakeholder management skills.
• Excellent project/event management and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to multi-task to meet tight deadlines.
• Ability to create engaging overseas student experiences with experience in crafting community projects that utilises disciplinary skill sets of students.
• Interest and exposure to technology fields is an advantage.
• Willingness to coordinate and lead students for frequent travels to sites of overseas community partners for service-learning and projects as well as travels for pre-trip preparations.
