About Us

The Engineering Design and Innovation Centre (EDIC) was established in 2009 to provide a holistic design and engineering education to students, as well as to support industry partners to innovate and address complex challenges. It offers the Innovation & Design Programme (iDP) for undergraduate students and the newly-established Master of Science in Engineering Design & Innovation (MSc EDI) for postgraduate students.

 

We are now seeking an Electrical Systems Laboratory Technologist to help support and provide technical advice to students on electrical system design and implementation.

Job Description

•    Support students’ projects that are related to high voltage electric drive system.
•    Provide technical advice on high voltage system design and implementation.
•    Provide training to students on good electrical design and implementation.
•    Provide training to students on proper usage of tools and good practices of engineering.
•    Monitor students’ work on high voltage system.
•    Ensure proper functioning of high voltage equipment and tools; coordinate maintenance and servicing if required.
•    Assist in specifying and purchasing of high voltage related equipment and tools.
•    Maintenance of work areas and infrastructure.
•    Understand all applicable health and safety regulations, training and reporting requirements, and standard operating procedures associated with workshop safety on the electrical work.
•    Conduct workshop, maintain risk assessment, identify hazardous conditions, determine safe procedures and controls, and implement and enforce standard safety procedures.
 

Qualifications

•    At least Nitec/Higher Nitec/Diploma in electrical/electronic engineering or equivalent.
•    At least 3 to 5 years of working experience in high voltage systems.
•    Proficient in reading and understanding circuit diagrams.
•    Knowledge in electronic circuit architecture and integrated circuit design.
•    Knowledge of using electronics equipment like oscilloscope, signal generator and high voltage power supply.
•    Working knowledge of electronics, electronics design, control systems and embedded systems.
