Laboratory Executive (Engineering Design and Innovation Centre)

Job Description

Work will be conducted out of the various workshop facilities within Engineering Design and Innovation Centre (EDIC) and the incumbent needs to work on the following areas:

Technical Support
•    Operate and maintain fabrication/prototyping machines such as 3D printing, laser cutters, etc.
•    Advise and guide students on the electrical/mechanical/software aspects of diverse projects.
•    Conduct technical designs and understand the practical implications of students proposed design.
•    Train students on safe usage of fabrication tools and machines. 
•    Advise students on procurement of components. 

Safety
•    Understand all applicable health and safety regulations, training and reporting requirements, and standard operating procedures associated with workshop tools and machines.
•    Conduct risk assessment, identify hazardous conditions, determine safe procedures and controls, and implement standard safety procedures.
•    Provide safety training to students.
•    Ensure that safety procedures are always followed.

Finance-related Matters
•    Perform goods receipt prior to advance payment to suppliers and prior to invoice payment processing after receiving local supplier’s delivery.
•    Liaise with finance team to process advance payment to all overseas suppliers and some local suppliers for student’s purchase.
•    Submit vendor’s invoices to finance team for payment processing on purchases made for students after receiving the items.
•    Process students’ claim submissions for purchases paid by the students.
•    Submit expense report in CONCUR system for students’ online/overseas purchases paid with the NUS Procurement credit card.
•    Process payment for duties charges/taxes incurred on the shipment of overseas purchases.
•    Update spending table of purchases made for different project groups.
•    Update bank details of new suppliers who had registered & created a NUS supplier account on the procurement portal.

Other Duties
•    Serve in the safety committee and/or other committees to improve and maintain the EDIC workplaces. 
•    Cover other Laboratory Technologist’s duties whenever the need arises, and provide support in all events.
 

Qualifications

•    At least a Diploma in Design or Engineering fields.
•    Degree holder in relevant fields is an advantage.
•    Working knowledge of computer aided drawing (CAD)/electrical or mechanical prototyping/software development.
•    Working knowledge of procurement is an advantage.
•    Knowledge in 3D printing and laser cutting, including operation and maintenance, is an advantage.
•    Independent, self-motivated, and good team player.
