Job Description
The candidate for this position will be part of the Undergraduate Programmes team in the College of Design and Engineering (CDE) Dean’s Office. Our dynamic team oversees and manages the academic journey for undergraduate students, from admissions to graduation. The specific roles and responsibilities of this position are as follows:
Special Programmes Advisory and Liaison
• Act as the CDE subject matter expert for special programmes that complement the primary degree.
• Analyse academic compatibility between CDE’s programmes and partner programmes, to create structured mappings or custom combinations.
• Guide, advise and partner department counterparts to support students on tailored study plans, pathway options and policies.
• Oversee double degree programmes from application through completion.
• Lead new initiatives to enhance the “build-your-own-degree” student experience and help CDE expand on engaging learning pathways in ways that are both scalable and personalised.
Scholarships Management
• Oversee the application and selection process for CDE’s donated scholarships, ensuring fairness and alignment with internal and external stakeholders.
• Drive improvements to scholarship processes and the scholarship holders’ experience, including the adoption of new technologies or process re-engineering.
• Use data-informed insights to support fundraising and stewardship efforts.
Undergraduate Admissions
• Act as CDE’s Deputy I/C to manage the annual admissions exercise, in close partnership with stakeholders within and beyond CDE.
• Develop and implement improvement projects for handling prospective student enquiries, using technology (e.g., AI) to offer timely and personalised responses.
• Provide actionable data insights to strengthen outreach and recruitment campaigns.
Miscellaneous Duties
• Any other duties or new initiatives as assigned, in line with CDE’s dynamic business needs and strategic priorities.
• Propose and lead initiatives to streamline operations and elevate the student and staff experience, through technology, automation and best practices.
• More senior members of the team may be given the opportunity to assume key coordinating roles for department-wide events and initiatives such as Commencement and Freshman Welcome.
Qualifications
• A good Bachelor’s degree from a reputable university.
• Minimum 8 years of working experience.
• Highly efficient and organised in meeting tight timelines.
• Strong service orientation in support of student success.
• Enjoys collaborating with a diverse range of stakeholders at all levels
• Handles sensitive information with tact and discretion.
• Proficient in digital tools such as Microsoft Office and motivated to learn new technologies.
• A proven track record in the following areas would be advantageous:
- Curiosity and aptitude for lifelong learning.
- Adept in logical and analytical thinking, with the ability to break down complex problems and connect the dots.
- Experience in driving data- or AI-enabled decision-making.
