Job Description
This position involves working on a project related to the design, deployment, and autonomous navigation for small teams of uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs) in indoor environments. The objectives of this position first include contributing to the selection, design, and sensorization of a small number of drones. The candidate will then work with our team to control a small team of these vehicles in autonomous navigation tasks indoors, using onboard computation, sensing, and communications. The role involves the opportunity to work with the PI’s team within the National University of Singapore. The successful candidate will be self-motivated with an outstanding track record in robotics, control, computer science, or related disciplines. The main research tasks for the project include but will not be limited to:
• Designing the computation, sensing, and communication stack of an autonomous UAV
• Developing controllers for indoor autonomous navigation by a small team of UAVs, using onboard compute/sensing/comms
Qualifications
• Excellent coding skills in C++/python with ROS
• Literature review/summarizing skills
• Simulations abilities (e.g., Unity and/or Gazebo)
• Experience with UAV design and assembly
• Expertise in UAV control, path planning, and autonomous navigation
• Experience publishing papers, and supervising undergraduate/master’s students
• Good writing/spoken communication skills
